US President Donald Trump has advised Cuba to “make a deal” or face consequences , announcing an end to Venezuelan oil and financial support to the island.  The warning follows a US operation in Caracas that led to the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who are facing charges in the United States.  Cuba, a long-time ally of Venezuela, has relied on roughly 35,000 barrels of oil per day in exchange for providing security services to Maduro’s government.  Trump said that arrangement is now over, declaring there will be no more oil or money flowing to Cuba. He accused Cuban forces of sustaining Venezuela’s leadership and claimed several Cuban nationals were killed during the operation.  Cuba has not yet officially responded as fuel shortages on the island worsen.
