Makerere University has announced its top-performing students ahead of the institution’s 76th graduation ceremony, which will take place from February 24 to 27, 2026 at Freedom Square.

More than 8,000 graduands are expected to receive degrees and diplomas during the four-day ceremony, which begins at 8:30 AM each day. The university will award 185 PhDs, 2,034 Master’s degrees, 6,043 Bachelor’s degrees, 137 postgraduate diplomas, and 33 specialised postgraduate diplomas.
University officials noted that this represents a 30 percent increase in graduate output compared to the 75th graduation ceremony, a growth attributed to the institution’s continued focus on research-led academic programs and expanded postgraduate training.

Among the science graduates, Simon Mungudit from the College of Natural Sciences emerged as the best-performing male student, earning a CGPA of 4.76 in Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geoscience and Production. Esther Ziribagwa from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences recorded a CGPA of 4.77 in Bachelor of Agricultural and Rural Innovation, making her the top-performing female science student.
In business and humanities disciplines, Sarah Aloyo of Makerere University Business School achieved a CGPA of 4.93 in Procurement and Supply Chain Management. Nakato Dorothy of MUBS Jinja Campus also earned a CGPA of 4.93 in the same program. Ssewalu Abdul graduated with a CGPA of 4.90 in Leisure and Hospitality Management.
Makerere University confirmed that academic transcripts have been prepared and distributed to college principals, and graduands have been advised to collect them before the ceremony while following their respective college schedules.
Attendance at the graduation ceremony will be by invitation, with each graduand allowed two guests. Graduands have been advised to arrive early to complete security procedures and follow university guidelines during the event.
