Mawokota South Member of Parliament, Yusuf Nsibambi, has officially crossed from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Nsibambi, who lost his parliamentary seat in the January 15 general elections to NRM’s Suzan Nakawuki, was formally received at the NRM headquarters in Kyaddondo. The unveiling was presided over by Speaker Anita Among in the presence of party leaders and supporters.

Following his introduction, Nsibambi expressed his readiness to collaborate with the ruling party, stating his commitment to contributing to national development.

Speaker Among welcomed him to the NRM, commending what she described as his acknowledgment of the party’s role in protecting and advancing Uganda’s progress.

She noted that the party values individuals committed to strengthening the country’s stability and growth.

Nsibambi explained that his decision followed reflections on his parliamentary experience and his desire to align with a team he believes is focused on safeguarding the interests of Ugandans.

In the weeks prior, Nsibambi led a group of opposition legislators to State House in Entebbe for a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni. The engagement focused on easing post-election tensions, fostering reconciliation, and addressing national matters, including concerns surrounding political detainees.

Approximately 17 lawmakers from different political parties attended the meeting, which participants described as a dialogue platform rather than the formation of a formal political alliance.
