Nigerian Artistes Shine at 9th AFRIMA Awards as Winners Emerge Across Africa

Nigerian musicians dominated the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), taking home several of the top honours at the continental ceremony, while artistes from other regions were also recognised for their outstanding achievements.

Burna Boy won Album of the Year for his latest project, No Sign of Weakness. He also shared the Best African Collaboration award with fellow Nigerian artiste Shallipopi. Shallipopi went on to secure Song of the Year for his viral hit Laho.

Rema emerged as the most awarded artiste of the night, winning Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African Artiste in R&B and Soul.

Additional Nigerian winners included Yemi Alade and Phyno, while Qing Madi was named Most Promising Artiste of the Year. Chella received the African Fans’ Favourite award. Music executives and brothers Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo “D1” Adeneye were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their contribution to African music.

- Sherine (Egypt) – Northern Africa Best Female Artiste

- Adviser (Mauritania) – Northern Africa Best Male Artiste

- Nontokozo Mkhize (South Africa) – Southern Africa Best Female Artiste

- Yo Maps (Zambia) – Southern Africa Best Male Artiste

- Wendy Shay (Ghana) – Western Africa Best Female Artiste

- Rema (Nigeria) – Western Africa Best Male Artiste

The 9th AFRIMA Awards celebrated Africa’s rich musical diversity, with Nigerian artistes leading the honours while talents from across the continent received regional recognition.
