National Medical Stores (NMS) has confirmed an attempted robbery at one of its rented warehouse facilities in Entebbe, which was foiled by security teams on the night of January 11, 2026.
According to the Principal Public Relations Officer, Ms Sheilla Nduhukire, NMS security personnel, working jointly with the Special Forces Command and the Uganda Police Force, detected the intrusion early and swiftly intervened. The area was immediately cordoned off to allow security agencies to conduct investigations.
No medical supplies were stolen, as the suspects were intercepted while all items were still on site. Two suspects sustained injuries during the operation and are currently receiving medical treatment, while three others were arrested and remain in custody.
Ms Nduhukire confirmed that NMS operations were not disrupted and emphasized that the agency remains fully operational and on high alert.
She said NMS is cooperating fully with investigators and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to protecting its staff, assets, and the integrity of the national medicines supply chain. She also commended the security agencies for their prompt response, noting that further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
