A senior official at Uganda Christian University has died following
a violent incident at her home in Mukono on Tuesday night.
Pamela Ruth Tumwebaze, Dean of Students and Director of Student
Affairs at UCU, was reportedly attacked by unknown individuals
at her residence. She was taken to hospital for treatment but
passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Earlier that day, she had addressed students during a community
worship service at Nkoyoyo Hall, where she spoke about building
healthy relationships within the student community.
In messages shared by members of the university community, the
incident was described as a tragic loss. Despite medical efforts,
her injuries proved fatal.
The university paid tribute to her service, describing her as one
of the youngest to serve as Dean of Students and recognizing her
compassion, dedication, and support for students.
Her association with UCU spanned over two decades. She joined as
an undergraduate student in 2000 and graduated in 2003 with a
Bachelor of Arts in Education. Over the years, she served in
several academic and administrative roles across the institution.
At the time of her passing, she had been leading student affairs
for about three months and was pursuing a Master’s degree in
Strategic Communication.
She is survived by her husband and two children.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding
the attack.
